Application Process for Holland Township Residents:

The online application is applicant driven. The following are instructions on how to apply online for a Firearms
Identification Card or Permit to Purchase a Handgun. Prior to applying, ensure that your driver's license has your
current address on it. If you are not a Holland Township resident, STOP HERE and contact your local police department
for directions on how to apply. Your municipality may be covered by the New Jersey State Police, for further information,
contact the municipality in which you pay your taxes to.

Prior to submitting your application online, review the entire application for accuracy. In the event your application was
submitted with errors or information was omitted, the Holland Township Police Department may not have the ability to
make corrections. Errors made by the applicant will result in a significant delay in the application process and/or the
applicant resubmitting the entire application, this includes submitting all new payments.

To complete the online application on FARS. Applicants must use the Holland Township Police Department ORI
number (NJ0101500). Applicants must utilize the correct ORI. All application fees are non-refundable and
non-transferable.

FARS requires the applicant to provide an email address and phone number of two reputable references
(friends, co-workers, etc.) References will receive a questionnaire via email. References must complete the
questionnaire immediately in order to process your background investigation. Please advise your references that the
FARS system will email them the reference questionnaire to be completed. Your references can complete the questions
using a mobile device or computer.

The applicant will receive automated email updates throughout the process. Email notification of approval DOES NOT
mean your Firearms ID Card or Permit(s) to Purchase a Handgun are ready for pick up. These notifications are not
indicators that the process is complete, they are notifying the applicant that they have completed their portion. Further
investigation by the Holland Township Police Department will be completed AFTER you receive these notifications. A
Holland Township representative will contact you when permits are ready to be picked up.

Payment can be made by cash (exact change) or by personal check made out to Holland Township Police Department.
Initial Firearms ID Card $5.00. Permit to Purchase a Handgun $2.00/each. A Holland Township representative will
contact you to for payment to be made. Do not submit payment to the Holland Township Police Department without
being contacted first by the Holland Township Police Department. State of New Jersey fees are collected online.
